Construction of the theatre
The plans for the construction of the theatre stand out for their uniqueness, being of great interest from the technical point of view.
Remodelling the theatre
A second group of documents gathers all the projects related to different improvements in the main hall, the stage and other areas of the theatre, sometimes in open competitions with the presentation of proposals that were never carried out. Among these technical plans we find improvements to the electrical installations, the technical lighting, new heating systems, the construction of elevators. There are documented proposals that often seek the modernization of the resources of the stage, or the extension of spaces for storing sets, and expanding the area for the orchestra and rehearsals, a problem that was difficult to solve. Other plans contain the projects for the decoration and restoration of the main hall, annexes, or the restructuring of the Circle and the Theatre itself.
Foreign theatres
There are technical drawings of other European theatres, which were used as reference in the different studies of improvements: Covent Garden.
Seats
For the singular typology in the constitution of the Societat, several plans gather the distribution of seats and note down carefully the changes of the seats in each of the improvements. We also point out the preliminary plans designed by Mestres Cabanes for a Museum of theTheatre.
